The Aeronautics Directorate identifies, develops, demonstrates, and transfers high-payoff aeronautical technologies. Specifically, the Directorate focuses on research and technology projects that promote NASA’s objectives in aeronautics through advances in concepts and technologies for safe and efficient national airspace operations, aeronautics and aerospace systems analysis tools, and new flight vehicle concepts and systems. The Directorate operates national wind tunnel facilities and human-in-the-loop flight simulation facilities for the benefit of NASA and the aerospace industry.
